Upward Bound is a federal TRIO program designed to provide opportunities for high school students to succeed in their pre-college performance in order to enable them to achieve their higher education goals. The Upward Bound program at Anderson High School provides academic support and college/career readiness services to high school students from families that have not obtained a bachelor’s degree or are considered low income. Upward Bound Provides students that participate with fundamental support for college entrance and career planning. There are currently 60 students at Anderson High School participating in Upward Bound. Throughout the school year Upward Bound provides students with academic support, tutoring services, college and career planning services and college field trips.
In the Summer Upward Bound serves students through a 6-week college and career preparation program including a one week campus residential experience and a 1-week field trip. During the summer program students from Anderson High School also designed and built their own Upward Bound website through a career development project known as Work Study.
